EVM430-FR6047: EVM430-FR6047 compare to EVM430-FR6043

Part Number: EVM430-FR6047

Hi !

I'm trying to understand why the 6047 doesn't have an external AFE that connects the MSP to the trunscouders ports, but the 6043 does.
I am attaching the design consents.
1) Does this mean that in the 6043 the ADC that will be received will be more powerful?
2) Does this mean that it will be easier for me to read water flows in thick pipes if I use ?

3) We are editing a BOARD and debating whether it is worth adding the AFE between the MSP and the ports or not?

I would appreciate details on the subject, I did not find any information why it is in the EV of 6043 and not in the EV of 6047.

  • Hi Ido,

I believe that the additional AFE circuitry is added to the FR6043 because it is necessary for performing gas flow metering measurements. This is why the supported devices section of the USS Design Center Users Guide shows many devices as capable of gas and water, or just water, but none just for gas. Gas metering requires the additional AFE circuitry. For a water meter, adding the extra circuitry should not be necessary.
