MSP430FR5994: MSP430FR5994 bootloader

Part Number: MSP430FR5994

Hi,

I would like to ask you, is it possible remotely change the firmware in the MSP430FR5994 processor? I read a lot of your application notes, but I don´t find what I am looking for. Is it possible save new firmware to external flash memory or part of FRAM code memory, load from that and reboot? I would like to receive new firmware by radio, save it and boot it without PC or other processor.

I read  the slau550ab.pdf but this is for direct writing to FRAM by BSL ROM memory from other processor or system by peripheral UART/I2C. I have download slaa721e.pdf but I'd hate to waste my time on that...

Do you have for code example and application note for save new firmware to external flash memory or part of FRAM code memory, load from that and reboot?

Thank. Tomas.

  • Hi Tomas,

Effectively you'll need to use the wireless device to provide the data and preform updates via the BSL.

I heavily recommend taking a look at the slaa721, it is extensive but this application note would be the best to address your needs, especially with the Dual Image idea which helps demonstrate how to jump to your stable application code in case of a programming failure during an update.

    Regards,
    Luke
