EVM430-FR6047: Gap between Pulse Start and ADC Capture in Ultrasonic Design Center

Part Number: EVM430-FR6047

I'm writing because we're conducting tests with the EVM430-FR6047 evaluation kit, and when we change the value of 'Gap between Pulse Start and ADC Capture' to a value lower than 26us, the board stops functioning and doesn't provide any data. According to the specifications, this value can be reduced to as low as 3us, but in practice, we are unable to achieve this. We need it to measure flight times in very narrow pipes. Regards and thank you.

  • Hi Carlos,

When you make this change, does the GUI start to issue error codes? Or does it report nothing and show no waveforms when you make the change? The specification that it CAN be as low as 3us does not necessarily mean that you will be able to get it below 3us. This is highly dependent on your hardware set-up and the other settings you use in the GUI.

  • Hi Dylan,

Thanks for reaching out and providing your insights. When I made the change, the GUI didn't issue any error codes, nor did it report anything unusual. However, it resulted in no waveforms being displayed and no data being received.

I appreciate your insight. I understand that the responsiveness depends on the hardware configuration. My goal isn't necessarily to achieve the 3us threshold, but with the current hardware setup, I should ideally be able to obtain data with a response time of around 10-15us. However, since I'm unable to reduce it below 25us, it's causing issues in obtaining any signal.

    Thanks for your assistance!

  • Increase the "Start PPG Count (ns)" parameter to satisfy the minimum SDHS settling time imposed by the GUI as described in this thread's confirmed answer.

  • Hi Seth,

Thanks for the link and the help here,

    Carlos,

Could you try adjusting this parameter accordingly and mark Seth's response as resolved if that fixes the problem for you?

Otherwise, please feel free to continue the thread.

    Thanks!
