So I wanted to make an Accelerometer remote via Bluetooth device connected to the Launchpad, this is the design I have come up with so far.

I want to set the accelerometer on I2C channels but I am stuck on the last connection setups at this time. If No one answers I will solve sometime in the future (:x). This is my first attempt at this so please be kind. Ask away test me please. The bluetooth will run at baud rates of 9600.

Hello Brandon,

Connect SDA to select I2C Address of ADLX345 (GND=0x53, Vcc=0x1D). SDO is your I2C data pin. Connect it to P1.7.

Thank you. Helped a bunch, I used grace to set the P1.7 and looked next to it and found another spi / i2c on P1.6 so I set the SDA there. Also I noticed that the ADLX345 only acts as slave so there is no need to attach the SCL as that allows it to become master(Sound about correct?) Here is a new diagram:

Hello Brandon,

I2C requires 2 communication lines: clock and data. Yes, you are right to use P1.6 (I2C clock), but connect it to SCL. SDA can be permanently connected to GND (or VCC), but not left open.

Ok, thank you. This novice appreciates your help, my layout is below (pretty sure this is right.). Think today was the real breakthrough for me on learning how to read these data sheets. In the mist of this I figured why not try and make all of this into it own little device piece by piece and make my own PCB. I want to make this super small but need to do much more research, but plenty of time while parts come.

Hi Brandon,

In your situation I would build a test case as you have drawn above. With all the experiance go for an own design. There is still some hurdles to overvcome on firmware side.

Exactly the plan. I have everything on its way from Sparkfun and I currently starting to learn EagleCAD ( SEEMS TO BE THE PREFERRED CHOICE DUE TO FEATURES). It seem like a better choice because I wanted a bluetooth chip that only sent output but was unable to find a breakout like that. If everything works as I want I would like the ability to sell it also, so at this point I will be using my pre-prototype for programming purposes(And FUN!!). The idea is really for something else I want to make but figured might as well and hook it up to my Blade helicopter or anything it could be used for, so my launchpad version is perfect for me I believe..

Hi Brandon,

Just a note: TI has an Eagle library for all MSP430 processor parts. We use Eagle for years and never bad a bad experiance. Eagle provide a good tutorial to start with (Highly recomended!).
