LP-MSPM0C1104: Not able to flash or erase the Launchpad MCU

Hi, I am using LP-MSPM0C1104 launchpad to test and explore the MCU MSPM0C1104. After few cycles of debugging, an error message appears which says

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -614 @ 0x0)
The target indicates there is an error condition from a previous SWD
request. Clear the error the condition, and try the SWD request again.
(Emulation package 9.13.0.00201)

I am not able to debug this thing. I tried to reset the MCU by power cycling multiple times and also tried to erase the MCU. But I am not able to write or erase it.

Along with thsis solution please let me know if there is any way to Erase the MCU using CCS.

Hello,

We you modifying the NONMAIN memory by any chance?

When I've seen this error, performing a Factory Reset recovers the board. The steps to preform it via CCS can be found here: https://software-dl.ti.com/msp430/esd/MSPM0-SDK/latest/docs/english/tools/ccs_ide_guide/doc_guide/doc_guide-srcs/ccs_ide_guide.html#dssm-mass-erase-factory-reset-wait-for-debug-and-set-reset-mode

Basically, you launch just the target configuration then run the DSSM script. Auto means the programmer has control of the Reset pin and should work here I think, where as manual means it will tell you when to manually push the reset button.

Thanks for replying.

I am Using CCS Version: 12.7.1.00001. I am Running GPIO toggle Example.

1. DSSM commands can be sent in Debug mode. but with above error, I cannot enter in the debug mode to be able to send the commands.

2. online GUI only works for 1306 and 3507 device So I am not able to use this method for 1104.

Hello Swapnil,

Thank you very much for the information. Could you also screen shot your debug flash settings? (right click, go to properties and debug tab. See screen shot below. Also, could you possibly zip up your project file and attach it here?

As for the factory reset, I accidently linked you to an old version of the GUI tool. I edited my post, but this link should always link to the latest and it has added M0C support: https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/TIMSPGC/MSPM0_Factory_Reset_Tool

Also, you can still run the DSSM commands in CCS without having to debug to project. You have to go to view -> Target Configurations then rightclick and "launch" one of the M0C target config files. It will switch you to the Debug view but won't try to connect to the target device. Then you can run the DSSM commands via the scripts tab.

Hi JD, Thanks for the support. I could do factory reset form CCS and this resolved the issue
