MSP430FR6043: Not a clear idea about Ultrasonic Gas board sensing Calibration process

Part Number: MSP430FR6043

Tool/software:

Currently i am working on Ultrasonic Gas board sensing, i am completly blind about calibration process. I can't able to find the clear explanation about calibartion process for gas board sensing from the below link,
https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=A__AURAjHTDa0oVdd-2UTgIEQ__MSP430-ACADEMY__8HaEUeq__LATEST.

Is this calibration process required for gas board designing ? If its required how to do this ?

And i also have doubt about Resonator calibration and AGC calibration mentioned in example code for MSP5430FR6043EVM_USS_Gas_Demo. Whats the purpose of these two calibrations ?

  • Hi,

Usually it requires volume rate calibration in gas metering. However, this calibration is done by the end customer. The calibration process can be different due to their end application. Different type of gas, temperature requirement, air pressure requirement and etc.. So, we do not have a common calibration process to provide.

Resonator calibration calibrates the USSXT clock source error. And AGC calibration can keep the maximum ADC capture data around 1000 codes, avoiding the ADC capture is too small or too large.

  • Hi Cash Hao,
But the USS design center windows application for gas mode have calibration tab like below, Whats the purpose of this tab here ??

  • Hi,

This Ti provided calibration method is for water meter application. For this basic function, it does not include the temperature/pressure calibration. It is not suitable for gas meter application.
