MSP430FR2355: MSP430FR2355 - could not erase device memory

Part Number: MSP430FR2355

Tool/software:

We designed a custom board based on MSP430FR2355.  We have connected the jtag probe as per the datasheet circuit diagram.   We are using  "MSP-FET — MSP MCU Programmer and Debugger" for programming.   In CCs we selected  Ti MSP430 USB1(default) and tried to debug. It displays the following error - "MSP430: Error connecting to the target: Could not erase device memory"

However we were able to program in the beginning  multiple times for 30 minutes.  After that we are getting this error.

Could you help us.

Regards,

Ramesh

  • Error message is far from clear. Is it connection problem, or connection  is OK but device can not be erased.

Try to check option "Erase User Code" and device should be back to factory state (mass erased) if connection is OK.

  • Hi Ramesh,

I recommend you check the hardware firstly. Inlcude the recommended capacitor on the debug interface.

  • I have attached the ckt used for jtag connection.  We did the connection as per data sheet.   Actually flashing happens once in a while( once out of 10 times).

  • Hi Ramesh,

So are you using the FET tool to provide the 3V3 power? Due to you connect PIN2 with 3V3. According to datasheet, if a local target power supply is used, you should select PIN4. Maybe this makes some imapcts.

  • Hi Sal,

We changed to pin4 and  it is fine now.  Thanks for the help.

    Ramesh
