MSP430G2553: MSP430G2553 output current is too low for applications, need help

Hello everyone,

I started a project on my own with MSP430G2553. I want to trigger MOC3021 triacs-octocoupler from an output then also blink some LED's. But now I see that, maximum rated current one pin can give is 6 mA. The current seems too low to trigger any of this. How do you guys use this MCU? Can you give quick tips or applications?

What current, you want to output to drive the MOC3021?

Can you use MSP430 to control a MOSFET and use the MOSFET to drive MOC3021.

Yes I want to give output to MOC3021 and also some LEDs.
I may use a BJT or FET to trigger Bias, but I will use 3 LEDs, so using 3 FET costs a bit.
So I basically want to operate these passive elements but the output current os MSP430 is problem.

You can exceed the 6 mA. But:

The output voltage will be above 0.3 V - not a problem for an optocoupler

You can not exceed 48mA for all outputs.
