I think the MSP430FR2522 is a 1st generation CapTIvate and the MSP430FR2676 is a 2nd generation CapTIvate,
Is there any difference in performance between the two devices in terms of the built-in spread spectrum, automatic tuning, noise filtering, and debouncing algorithms described in the datasheet?

You can find additional performance information in the document 'Sensitivity, SNR, and design margin in capactivite touch applications', section 4 'CapTIvate performance'. To summarize that section, the GEN2 devices offer better SNR compared to GEN1 devices because GEN2 has improvements in the design that lower the internal floor noise. This allows thresholds to be lower, thus higher sensitivity. This is particularly important in proximity designs, where sensitivity is very important and the ability to reject false detections due to noise.
