MSPBSL: BSL Scripter with Ethernet not working

Part Number: MSPBSL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP432E401Y

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

I tried to flash the MSP-EXP432E401Y micro-controller with BSL Scripter via ethernet.

Following the procedure mentioned in resource explorer, I have connected one ethernet cable from launchpad to my PC and one LAN cable from company's internal network to my PC.

LOG

        Waiting for BOOTP request!
        Waiting for BOOTP request!
[ERROR_MESSAGE]No BOOTP request received, exit the BSL-Scripter!

I also suspect if it is a firewall related issue, but i'm not supposed to disable the firewall

Can you please tell what should be done to make it work?

Thanks in advance

  • Also i could see a BOOTP request from microcontroller in wireshark

  • Hi,

I have connected one ethernet cable from launchpad to my PC and one LAN cable from company's internal network to my PC.

I think you should connect both the LaunchPad and your PC to a network switch so both of them are on the same network. You seem to be saying that you have two Ethernet cables connected to the same PC. Is that what you are saying?

First resolve your cable connection. If the BOOTP request appears on Wireshark then it means the MCU is executing the Ethernet bootloader and hence sending out the BOOTP request.  Since you suspect the firewall is at play, I will suggest you try another network such as your home network. If it works on your home network then you can consult with your IT department to temporality disable the firewall.
