MSP430FR6972: MSP430FR6972

Part Number: MSP430FR6972

Tool/software:

HI

I have a simple question, this is only to clarify

I see that the MSp430FR6972 have maximum frequency 16Mhz, but on the data sheet There are many sections

where is reported until 24Mhz, can work also with 24Mhz crystal oscillator ?

About the Fram Write proctection did you have some application Note ? I would like to protect all Fram and

would like to using the INFOD and INFOC like eeprom

other, What are the differences with MSP430FR69721 I have try to understand but nof find it

Best Regards

Luigi

  • 1) You can use a 24MHz crystal for HFXT [Ref datasheet (SLASE23E) Table 5-5] but the CPU is limited to 16MHz [datasheet Sec 5.3], so you would have to apply a clock divider [Sec 5.3 note (9)] to bring it into spec. The available clock dividers in CSCTL3:DIVM [Ref User Guide (SLAU367P) Table 3-7] are all integers, so the best you could do with a 24MHz crystal is 24/2=12MHz.

    2) The FRAM "How-To and Best Practices" App Report (SLAA628B) chapter 12 seems to cover memory protection pretty well. Except in very unusual cases, the CCS MPU Editor ("Build Settings->General->MPU [Tab]") is the easiest way.

    3) As far as I know, the only difference between the FR6972 and FR69721 is that the former's BSL uses UART and the latter I2C [Ref datasheet Tables 3-1/3-2].

    [Edit: Minor clarification]

  • Hi Bruce

    Thank you for your support

I had seen this one but I thought there were other differences too.

  • Hi,

I only found the difference, BSL interface.
