MSP430F5529: GPIO pin maximum transmission length

Hi TI Forum,

I have TI power management IC and MSP430F5529 controller,

How long can the MSP430F5529 controller's GPIO pin be connected ?

In my case the distance between controller and an IC is 5 meters and to en/dis i need to use some 6 GPIO pins & 2 PWM pins has to be connected to the IC circuit..

It this possible or do i need to use any kind of circuits ?

How fast is your signal?

I run about 3 meters of keyboard with no issues. I think the main problem is induced noise since it is such a high impedance path.

could you please suggest any kind of circuits to increase the length of the cable.. because i need to implement 5 meter cable here with no noise..

You never said what your frequency is.

If there is power at the other end of the cable, I would suggest something like midi:

It can transmit over long distances and provides galvanic isolation.
