MSP430FR5969: MSP430FR5969IRGZT storage temp question

Hi team, a customer had to cured this device, MSP430FR5969IRGZT at 150C for 1hr (device was UN-powered). The datasheet says that abs max is 125C for STORAGE. The device qual summary on ti.com says TC was done at -65C to 150C and HTSL was done at 150C at 1000 hrs.

Is there any reliability concern for the parts that was cured 9un-powered) at 150C for 1hr at the customer production line?

    I have double checked the temperature data. Yes, on our datasheet, the highest temp is 125° and I think we should refer to the datasheet when we use the MCU chip. But can you share the figure and website page link of the description of " TC was done at -65C to 150C and HTSL was done at 150C at 1000 hrs" with me? I can double check it for you.

  • Janz, it is in the qual summary in the product page. Go down to the orderable section, scroll to the far right and click QUAL SUMMARY and RELIABILITY data. This will give you the qualification tests done for the device. THis is urgent, please prioritize. 

  • Note that I am *not* TI, so this is not "official"

    Reliability tests are performed at conditions beyond that stated in the data sheet in order to accelerate failures, and depending on the sample size and conditions, some failures *may* be allowed.

    The tests are designed such that you can safely use the parts at the datasheet conditions for at least 1 million hours, give or take an hour or so. 8^)

    So TI guarantees that you can store these parts at 125 indefinitely. If you exceed that they could fail at any time. Will they fail after an hour or so at 150? probably not. But I am pretty sure that if they *do* fail, it is on you, and not TI.

    Tl; DR;

    Absolute Maximums follow the pottery barn rule, if you exceed them, and it breaks, you buy it.
