MSP430F6775A: Firemware revision TLV

Hi,

I would like to ask what is the Firemware revision block in TLV structure used for? I mean it cannot be used to store user firemware revision? And in the datasheet it states "Per unit"? So what firemware revision is it?

Hi Peter, The firmware revision block should be based on the initial firmware version the chip was tested with and is used for reference along with the device ID, die revisions, and other manufacturer and tool related information.

Hi,

Okey, but the initial firmware version is gone when I will load mine into main memory or is it related to another code stored somewhere else which is still there? Like the bootcode for example?

Hey Peter, yes but I believe this is more of a way to unambiguously identify the device for factory reference to determine lot number, initial trim and calibration values deployed to the device, and so on. I think you can add your specific info farther down in the device descriptor registers (where the TLV entries start), but I think these values are read only and used for accurate device tracing in the event there is an issue and a device gets returned back to us.
