MSP430FR6047: MSP430 devkit dimensions not fitting for a project

Part Number: MSP430FR6047

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am currently working with a R&D team on a water flow sensor, and we are developping a box (IP65 insulation) to protect some electronic components, including a MSP430 development kit designed for the box and the sensor. Our current devkit features the MSP430FR6047, but this devkit is too big for the box.
Said box is 220mm long, 120mm wide and 75mm high.

The actual components (RS485/4-20mA module (waveshare), 24-5V stepdown regulator, x3 4/20mA ports, DC input, TTL-to-RS485 converter module) require roughly 60-70% of the inner space of the box, and we are wondering which msp430 devkit would fit the best in that (quite narrow) remaining space.

Which devkit would fit in these dimensions (in mm) : 140*70 (Lon x Hei), or 160*120 (Lon x Wid), or 70*70 (Wid x Hei) ?

If my question is not clear enough or if you need pics to find the dimensions of our project, , do not hesitate to tell me.

Thank you in advance for your answer.

  • Hi,
I'm not sure I'm getting the inquiry. Are you trying to make a new board with the dimensions your proposed?

  • Hello,
    Thank you for your answer.

The original inquiry was mostly about looking for an existing devkit that can fit in said space, because our goal is to test the accuracy of our sensor with the MSP430 MCU.

However, after having checked for other development kits, we ended up choosing the EVMSP430-FR6047, because the integrated MCU features some options (sigma-delta ADC and enough memory) that are necessary in our testing conditions.

So in the end, we don't have many choice but to use this devkit.

But we might use either a different housing device, or 3D-print some platforms to put the devkit, and some other components, on a superior layer, to ensure we can plug/unplug our sensor probes (waterflow and temperature) easily. The other components (interface ports, Waveshare module, stepdown regulator) will be placed at the bottom of the box.

I think this is the way we are going to solve that problem.

Anyway, I hope this post will have helped someone with similar issues.

    Best Regards,

    BARDAKOFF G.

  • Hi Guillaume,
I'm glad you found the device you need it. I'll make sure to use this post for future reference. If you need further help, please let us know.
