MSP430F6775A: PUC

Part Number: MSP430F6775A

Tool/software:

Hi,

I would like to ask If I will send data over UART from address of peripherals like LCDC and Device Descriptor table should not it cause PUC of device? It is described in UG page 72 "Generates PUC on fetch access". i have tired it but it does not seams to cause it? I would like to use that values like int value = *(*char) 0x0A01. Is it okay and the table is wrong ? Or there is no fetch just read ? I just wanna be sure.

  • Hi Peter,

This is saying that if the CPU fetches this information as an instruction, the device will undergo a PUC. It is not saying that if you read the data out of the register that the device will undergo a PUC. The crux here is that fetch specifically means when the CPU is grabbing a piece of the memory as an instruction. If you are reading it out as data, like you indicate, no PUC is generated.
