Dear competent,
In EVC projects developed in our company, we use MSP430F67X7 series TI controllers. According to EFT-IEC/EN 61000-4-4 standard; devices which were previously tested with a 2 kV amplitude signal, are now being tested with a 4 kV amplitude signal. We are currently working on the new product to pass the test which is under development but we are encountering an immunity issue with the controller during the 4 kV Burst Test. During the 4 kV Burst Test, the controller either freezes or resets.
In addition to the overall system improvements we have made, we attempted to block the pulses reaching the controller by adding series 1k resistors to the input pins of the controller for this specific test. However, we still face the controller reset issue during the test. To find a more detailed solution, we have developed a software that prints the Reset Root Cause on the log file we are using and we are simultaneously checking the reset reason using this software. One of the causes we frequently encounter is “No Interruption Pending,” but we have not been able to fully analyze the explanation for this.
Do you have any former analysis regarding the cause of the processor freezes up in this manner during the test? Are there any specific additional methods we can take to prevent this issue? Also, is there a method to identify which port gives “No Interruption Pending” message from? Are there any additional suggestions that TI engineers can recommend for improving immunity in this test scenario?
Thank you for your support.
i.e. Our test device is "EMTest UCS500N" and the test conditions are set as V = 4000V & f = 5.0 kHz
