MSP430F6775A: Registers

Hey Peter, thanks for reaching out. Let me investigate this and I will let you know which one is correct. My gut feeling is that the UG is correct in this situation, but let me confirm.

I would worry more about the values in the linker script:

PROVIDE(RTCTCCTL0          = 0x0CA0);
PROVIDE(RTCTCCTL1          = 0x0CA1);
PROVIDE(RTCCAP0CTL         = 0x0CA2);
PROVIDE(RTCCAP1CTL         = 0x0CA3);

I also assume that the adddresses in UG are sum up to the base address in that case it is okay  RTC_C_BASE_ADDRESS         = 0x0C80 + the each offset it looks like the result in linker matches the UG but it is still not quite correct for the datasheet.

I mean the form is little bit different PROVIDE...

The are in the GCC linker script msp430f6775_symbols.ld

Ok, I am not using the GCC compiler so thats why it is unknown to me I am using the .map file to get the register addresses.

All of the compilers that you can get from TI include such information. Perhaps under slightly different file names. This is why you have to tell the compiler that you are targeting a msp430f6775.

The linker has to have the script/command files because they have all of the location information.

and now I have another question related  when I got address for CTL register which address is (baseaddress+offset) and it is lets say base+0x01 and another is 0x02 than I can assume that the access is just byte? And when there is base+0x04 after 0x02 than the register at that address is 16-bit or not? I mean there are no structures for registers for the ti I have found the SFRREgister with the address inside so how am I supposed to get those information which one is right u know To check wether is correct UG or datasheet or  linker.

The user guide has always worked for me.
