LP-MSPM0L2228: cannot power on sometimes

Part Number: LP-MSPM0L2228
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSPM0L2228

Tool/software:

hi Expert,

i use LP-MSPM0L2228 (E1), SDK 2.4.0.6 and project below.

uart_rw_multibyte_fifo_poll_LP_MSPM0L2228_nortos_ticlang

if I let VBAT discharge to 0V, it would power on failed and cannot output uart message. i need to press the reset button.

if I don't let VBAT to go to 0v, it can power on normally and send out uart message.

What should I do for this to make it power on correctly?

BR,

frank

  • Hi Frank,

It is a known issue in our LP-MSPM0L2228 (E1) launchpad.

The reason is, when LP-MSPM0L2228 is powered-on from 0V, the PA18 pin voltage may rise following the VCC rising, and invoke the BSL function, then the MCU is stall in BSL status and finally entering a STANDBY mode.

A workaround may be removing the C46 capacity in the launchpad for LP-MSPM0L2228 (E1)

The issue does not occur in the RTM version of LP-MSPM0L2228, and you could also apply for some new launchpad.

    Best Regards,

    Pengfei
