CAPTIVATE-FR2676: Support Request: "No USB FET was found" Error When Debugging on Multiple Kits

Part Number: CAPTIVATE-FR2676
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET

Tool/software:

Hello TI,

I hope you are doing well.

I am currently encountering an issue while trying to debug code using TI development kits. Initially, I was able to successfully debug the code on my first setup without any problems. However, I recently received four additional identical kits from TI, and I am now facing the following error when attempting to debug:

Error: "No USB FET was found"

To clarify:

  • The same code and setup that worked on the first kit are being used.

  • The new kits are recognized by the system, but debugging fails with the mentioned error.

  • I have tried using different USB cables and ports but the issue persists.

Could you please assist me in troubleshooting this problem? Are there any specific drivers, firmware updates, or setup steps that I might be missing for the new kits?

I would appreciate your guidance to resolve this issue.

Thank you very much for your support.

Best regards,
Sushant Panhale

  • Hi Sushant,

How are you programming the devices through the MSP-FET? Are you using the programmer board?

    Best Regards.

  • Hi Diego,

    Thanks for your message!

To answer your question: I’m programming the devices through the MSP-FET using Code Composer Studio (CCS). The MSP-FET is connected directly to each individual microcontroller via JTAG or SBW (Spy-Bi-Wire) interface depending on the MSP430 variant I'm using.

I am not using a separate programmer board. The MSP-FET itself acts as the programmer/debugger and interfaces with the target boards (the 3 kits in your picture) through the standard debug header.

  • Hi Sushant,
Since your programming method seems to work for your original board, there might be something different with the other boards. Can you check if the data lines and clock coming into the devices are going through (connecting a logic analyzer to it should do the trick)? Can you share what version of CCS, MSP430SDK, and CaptivateDesignCenter you use? Also, can you confirm if the boards you received are the same model as the one that works? Finally, can you share a photo of your wire connections to the FR2676?

    Best Regards,

    Diego Abad

  • Hi Sushant,
    Any updates on this?

    Best Regards,
