MSP430 Team,
I have a question regarding the MSP430 LF and HF modes. For the 32KHz crystal, what is the minimum drive strength for the crystal? For the HF mode, what is the current consumption at the various frequencies of 4, 12, 20, 32MHz.
Can a crystal of 50KHz or 100KHz be used? Can this be put into a LF state? If not, how much current will these frequencies consume in the HF mode?
"We currently use a 32kHz crystal in LF mode and I think it takes <100nA with a drive of ‘0x00’. When I look up the specs for HF mode, it only discusses 4, 12, 20 and 32MHz and current of 200-450uA. I am curious how high frequency of a crystal can I put on LF mode? We are interested in using a 50kHz or a 100kHz crystal. If we can’t put these on LF mode, how much current would these use in HF mode?"
