MSP430F5504: Flashing with USB

Part Number: MSP430F5504
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5510,

Tool/software:

Hey,

we are designing a low-power system with an MSP4305504. Because of our small PCB Layout we trying to save space by flashing the MSP430 via USB.

As you see in our schematic we try to follow the TI Guidelines as close as possible.

Our Proble right know is that we cannot flash the MSP430 COntroller via USB. For testing purpose we tried the Olminexino-5510 Dev Board with a MSP430F5510 on it.

We didnt suceed to flash this Dev Board via USB. Here are my questions:

- Is it possible to flash MSP430F5504 via USB (see schematic above) without using an JTAG connector?

- If so what are the hardware and software requirement.

- If we have to use a JTAG connection what would be the cheapest TI-Programmer and how to we design the connector for the msp430f5504. Are there any guidlines or examples for the PCB Layout?

Thanks for your help! I find the all the documentation of the MSP430 Series a bit overwhelming and couldnt find a simple example where someone flashed a new msp430 via USB.

Best,

Chris
