MSP430FR2311: Using launchpad board - using TIA - how to deal with EZFET and P1.6 & P1.7

Part Number: MSP430FR2311

Tool/software:

Hi,

I could use some help on whether I can expect to use the TIA on the launchpad.

1) does the EXFET use these pins normally or only in certain modes? if I direct to only use SWD how do I direct the tool to only use that?

2) So, assuming I get the registers programmed to what I need and launch the code, then I could or should or would need to remove the shorting blocks J101-5:6, J101-3:4 ??

3) considering I will be trying to assess photodiode and TIA performance using this board. After initial validation of function, would/should I cut 'extraneous" traces to avoid stray capacitance? Trying to keep capacitance minimal of course - just on P1.6 P1.7 as they branch to J101.

THANKS FOR HELPING!

  • 1) The RXD/TXD connections on J101 are used only for (a) the BSL and (b) the user (backchannel) UART. If you don't know that you're using those, you probably aren't.

    2) You should remove the RXD/TXD jumpers from J101, and keep the SBWTCK/SBWTDIO jumpers installed. (I actually only install RXD/TXD as an exception.)

    3) [I defer to the EEs on this one.]
