Help on MSP-FET430UIF Debugger Downgrade

I want to Downgrade the firmware in the UIF , and I find the mean on the following link:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/MSP_Debug_Stack

Although I have searched through the whole web , I can't find the Downgrade Utility  mentioned in the text .

Any  information will be appreciated. Thanks.

  • It's included in the CCSv5.1 installation, it won't show up if you had the RC and updated to the final version, only on fresh installs it will show up. I haven't seen a standalone version.

    8270.downgrader.zip

I've attached (hopefully) everything you need, just extract it somewhere and run the V32V2.bat (as Administrator to be on the safe side).

    Bernhard,Thanks for your help.

I  encount the following prolem,I capture  the screenshot .

and I found the UIF is still enumerated as CDC but not VCP.

so can U give me some advice? Thanks again.

  • Hmm that's strange. I just downloaded my own archive extracted it somewhere and executed the batch file and I got:

You see, there are some additional steps mentioned before the request to unplug and replug the FET, maybe those are critical.

But well I have a working installation of CCSv5.1 on my PC, so maybe it installed something in the system folders which is required for the downgrade.

So maybe you can install CCSv5.1, then you will get a folder in your start menu containing the downgrader, or you can ask the guys in the code composer studio forum, maybe they can supply a standalone version of the downgrader which works.

  • Bernhard, I have successfully downgraded another UIF  with the .ZIP you provide . so the problem occurs in my above post may be caused by hardware.

    Thanks once more.

  • Hmm, that may be quite bad, is the FET which fails to downgrade detected/usable by any other software? Otherwise it just might be, that the FET is bricked.
