MSP430F67691A: MSP430F67691/MSP430F67691A Random Pin Short Issue

Part Number: MSP430F67691A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F67691

Dear Team ,

We are currently working with MSP430F67691/MSP430F67691A microcontrollers across multiple projects and have encountered an issue where, in some cases, one random pin gets shorted. The affected pin varies — it could be a UART, ADC, or GPIO — and the rest of the pins continue to function normally.

This issue is not limited to a single project. It has been observed across several applications:

  • Some powered by 7–9V battery,

  • One running on 24V DC, and

  • Another operating on 230V AC.

Due to this issue, we’ve had to replace several controllers, but so far we’ve been unable to identify the root cause.

Could you please advise how we can proceed to diagnose or rectify this issue?
Should we send the affected units to a TI facility (Texas, U.S.) for detailed analysis?

Looking forward to your guidance.

Best regards,
Ankush Tiwari
