MSP430F248: MSP430 and C-GANG information

Part Number: MSP430F248
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F247, , C-GANG

Hello,

we just bought three C-GANG, to program MSP430F247 and MSP430F248.

We can't find technical documentation and we have some questions:

1) Are C-GANG compatible with MSP430 JTAG programming using TDO, TDI, TMS, TCK and RST?

2) What connectors are used on C-GANG and what is the pinout of these connectors?

Thanks and best regards

Guido Tedeschi

  • c-gang support msp430 jtag interface.

BTW, c-gang don't generate Vpp for hard fuse blow, related to 1xx, 2xx and 4xx msp430 flash family. If this option is needed for production than it is not the right tool.

  • Many thanks Zrno Soli for the quick and useful anwer.

    Few questions about connectors.

From the smal picture of the supplied accesories, it seems that the supplied splitter board has six connectors with 10 pin:

    1) The pitch of the connectors is 0.05" (1.27mm)?

    2) The connectors are already assembled on splitter board or we need to purchase and solder those male connectors?

    Thanks and best regards

  • Hi Guido,

    1) The pitch of the connectors is 0.05" (1.27mm)?

The pitch of the 10-pin connector is 0.05" (1.27mm). The 14-pin connector has a pitch of 0.100" (2.54mm). This is for the PE063X06.

    2) The connectors are already assembled on splitter board or we need to purchase and solder those male connectors?

The PE063X06 comes with the connectors assembled. For the PE063X05, there are no components populated, however you can solder on a connector or header pins if you'd like. I believe the pitch for this one is 0.100" (2.54mm).

I'd recommend reading through the documentation here: https://elprotronic.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FPGPARM/pages/703660053/Programmer+Connections

    Best,

    Owen

  • We received our C-GANG programmers and the splitter board is PE063X05 rev-1, not populated with connectors.

Connectors pitch is 0.100" (2,54mm) and the two connectors to solder are 30 pins (2 x 15), the classic male connectors for IDC ribbon cable.

Each connector has the signals for 3 devices to be programmed, 10 pins for each device.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

    Best regards

    Guido
