MSP430F6779A: Controller Reset is very sensitive. The controller resets during the probing.

Hi,

We are designing an AC EVSE L2 charger using the MSP430F6679A enegry metring microcontroller. We observed the conditions where the controller resets when we are probing teh AC volatge on board. The AC input is 230V/50Hz.

We tried with multiple devices and foudn that the issue is there for all boards.

We have the general Reset circuit connected on Reset pin #100 of the microcontroller. The resistor used is 47K and capacitor 1000pF.

Looking forward for suggestions on this.

At first, I suggest you can try increase the capacitor to see if it helps.

In the parallel, I suggest you capture the RESET signal to see if it has large noise.

And also for VDD and GND. Maybe your system isolation circuit performance is not well, which results in big noise in VDD, or GND and then make the device reset.

Since this happens when you are "probing", you might want to think about exactly what that is doing.
