LP-MSPM0G3507: Launch pad Does not connect

Part Number: LP-MSPM0G3507
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSPM0G3507

I am trying to connect the Launch Pad GUI to the LP-MSPM0G3507. When the GUI launches, it appears to program the Launch Pad (LED's flicker), but then the GUI indicates it is waiting on data. I have checked the USB ports and they are operational at 9600 Baud. I would like to insure the communication is correct before I start going through the tutorials.

          Thanks

  • What program are you flashing to the G3507?

Does the debugger stop at main()? You have to press the continue button to run the program.

It is unclear which "communication" you are referring to. If it is the back channel UART, you can flash the uart echo example to verify that it is working.

  • Hi Dave,

You can confirm the connection to your computer via the Device Manager:

To ensure that the Launchpad is configured properly, check that all the jumpers on the J101 header are connected. These jumpers connect the on-board XDS110 to the MSPM0G3507.

You will also notice J21 and J22 headers below the J101 header. These jumpers distinguish whether specific pins are connected to the 20-pin headers on the LaunchPad or to the on-board XDS110. Please refer to the MSPM0G3507 LaunchPad Development Kit User's Guide (LP-MSPM0G3507) for more details.

    Best,

    Owen

  • Sorry for the delay, just now getting back to this.

First, I am trying to use the GUI, not CCS.

I was able to get one of the CCS examples to work, so to some degree this is now a moot point.

However, all the jumpers are correct. When I launch the GUI, it does program the Launchpad, and the program does change. but that is it. I can push SW2 and get it to change modes, but the GUI has no effect.

It would be nice to have a GUI like this just for starters, but not critical.

  • Hi Dave,

Under Options, can you open the Serial Port Settings:

From there, can you ensure that the COM port selected is the port that contains "UART" (from your screenshot, it should be COM5).

Set the baud rate to 115200.

In the bottom left corner of the GUI, you should see:

The GUI should now be interactive with the out of box example:

You should also be able to control which example is currently being run on the device using the Enable switches:

    Best,

    Owen
