MSP430 and Digital Stethoscope EVM

 Hi Simon, I suppose not feasible, I2S is  a fast audio interface dedicated to DSP and hi end processor, MSP is too slow to process audio data, you can use c5000 dsp series, Stellaris 9xxx or OMAP that have an integrated high speed I2S audio port and enough processing power to handle audio stream in real time.

The problem is that I want Bluetooth connectivity with my MCU. Do you know if bluetooth connectivity can be obtained with C5000 dsp series Evaluation Kits?

 Hi Simon, just a few point to clarify, front end is a simple audio device with a low noise microphone amplifier fed to an audio codec, so do you need do some math on audio or just pass it to an BT audio device?

 If just pair with a BT earphone and pass audio untouched then some connection between a BT controller and an MSP are enough, otherwise you need power to analyze audio stream and extract all information as heart rate and breath.

I do not need to do a lot of processing on the audio stream, just transmitting it wirelessly from the stethoscope to the PC and then do the processing on the PC. What do you suggest?

 Hi Simon, I finally browsed documentation on BT kits learning what can be done with these modules, I see that no audio application exists on documentation but a new module offer I2S support, refer to specialized forum on followings links for news.

 Starting from last one that can fit your requirement, this new board has direct I2S support and can be attached to Stethoscope evaluation directly, announce as a Stellaris board than MSP but on description seems to be usable on both platform, take care it is a new product too.

 I suppose this can be a good starting point to your application otherwise from BT expert on parallel forum can be the best fit to your need.
