MSP430F5310 "Device not recognized"

Hello there,

I'm trying to program a MSP430F5310 through a custom break-out board connected in a breadboard. I'm using the MSP-FET430UIF. Currently, CodeComposer is not able to detect the device.

-I have checked all of the connections multiple times.

-I followed this schematic: https://github.com/boseji/MSP430-LaunchPad-Innovation/blob/master/hardware/5310breakout/Schematics.png

-I followed the debuggin guide for the MSP-FET430UIF and further specs found here http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau208j/slau208j.pdf

Any advice on why is this issue happening? The device is brand new, and extreme care was put not to short VCC and GND at any instance.

I was able to program the MSP430 once but it often fails to recognize the device again. I have updated the drivers multiple times.

Any known issue with this?

Hi,

I have the same problem. My device (a MSP430F5310 development board) is not recognized by IAR Workbench (also I tried with CCS). I´ve reviewed the documentation and I´ve checked connections (shortcuts, VCC, GND...). I don´t know what is the problem.

I attach the schematic from the design.

Are you sure your schematic is correct? AFAIK, Pin 2 and 4 of the JTAG header are for VCC supply and VCC sense, but you have RST connected to Pin4. Of course it may just be that you have rotated the header by 180°. I didn’t check the other connections.
