MSPM0L1106: Irrugular Standby Current

Part Number: MSPM0L1106
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS8804, SYSCONFIG

Good day TI Team,

Summary: While doing current analysis test with TI devices – TPS8804 and MSPM0L1106 before production,
We are facing irregular standby current.

Details:
Used Application Circuit Block:

Enclosed the used Code:
main_standbyTest.txt– main.c filemain_standbyTest.txt
smoke_detector.txt  -- sysconfig filesmoke_detector.txt
Note: Please update extension accordingly

Expected:
We are expecting always 70uA as standby current, for every 5sec it is wakeup and current become 1.4mA.

Actual:
Initially we are getting properly , but after few minutes, the 70uA becomes 320uA for few minutes to around 10 mins
Then again comes to 70uA.
This happens at irregular interval.

Please guide us regarding what might be root cause and solution for this irregular standby current .

Thanks
Selvam

  • Hi Selvam,

Looks like you are measuring the system current but not only for MCU, so we could not clearly know whether the abnormal current is caused by MCU or other component.

    My debug suggestion will be:

    1. Instrument the 3.3 V and 5.6 V rails separately so you know which device is drawing the extra current.
    2. Load a totally empty example (with MCU under standby) to MCU, and check whether you still see this issue.
    3. Add DL_SYSCTL_blockAllAsyncFastClockRequests() before STANDBY entry and re-run the soak test. This is the lowest-effort change with the highest match to your symptom.
