MSPM0G3507: Clarification on MSPM0G3507 Unique Device Identifier

Part Number: MSPM0G3507

Hi Ti,

We need a unique identifier for each MSPM0G3507 MCU that does not repeat and is exclusive to that specific MCU. Could you kindly clarify which of the following identifiers we should use to uniquely identify an individual MCU?

  1. TRACE ID
  2. USER ID
  3. A combination of both TRACE ID and USER ID

Thank you for your clarification.

  • Hi Ti,
Could you kindly provide us with an update on this ?

  •  Hi, For identifying individual production MSPM0G3507 MCUs, please use the 32-bit TRACEID register at address 0x41C40000. Section 1.5.2.1 of the MSPM0 G-Series Technical Reference Manual describes this value as “unique per part shipped.”
USERID, located at 0x41C40008, identifies the part, variant, and revision. Multiple MCUs with the same configuration and revision can share this value, so USERID alone does not identify an individual MCU.

Please refer to the correct NONMAIN Layout for this device i.e. Type A located at section 1.4.4 NONMAIN Layout Types

  • Hi ,

Thank you for your response. We have a few additional questions regarding the TRACEID register that we would like to clarify.

The MSPM0G3507 uses a 32-bit TRACEID register at address 0x41C40000, which is described as “unique per part shipped.”
Since a 32-bit identifier can represent a maximum of 2³² (4,294,967,296) distinct values, could you kindly clarify the following?

    • Does TI guarantee that the TRACEID is unique across all MSPM0G3507 devices manufactured, or is this uniqueness guaranteed only within a specific production scope?
    • If the total number of devices manufactured exceeds 4.29 billion, how does TI maintain uniqueness given the 32-bit identifier limitation?

We would appreciate it if you could clarify the uniqueness guarantees and the allocation mechanism used for the TRACEID register.

Thank you for your time and support.
