LP-MSPM33C321A: Flashing: Device connection error.

Part Number: LP-MSPM33C321A

I have a LP-MSPM33C321A and after unboxing I could flash and debug the device. But when my latest software was flashed, it stopped responding.

It says "Texas Instruments XDS110 USB Debug Probe/CORTEX_M33 Error connecting to the target: Device Connection Error. This could be casued by the device having gone into low power mode. Try forcing an external reset pressing the "Force Reset" button. If the error persists, try: 1) Invoking BSL, 2) Calling a DSSM Mass erase, or 3.) Calling a DSSM Factory Reset. Check device FAQ for more information."

I tried "Force Reset", I tried the hardware reset button, but I cannot reestablish connection.

When I select the button "Read boot diagnostics", I see an error code in the terminal:

CS_DAP_0: DAP Disconnect
CS_DAP_0: DAP Reconnect
CA_DAP_0: Reset don
CS_DAP_0: Device diagnostic read = 0x8000007

I have not found a description of the procedures how to 1) invoking BSL -> that should be done automatically through the XDS110, right?
2.) Calling a DSSM Mass Erase

What are the next steps I could take?

  • Okay, I figured it out myself. In CCS I have to start a "Project-less Debug" and once I am connected to XDS110 go the "Debug_Console" and run the "MSPM33_Mailbox_FactoryReset_Automatic()" command.

After that I could flash known-good projects like example again.
