MSP430FR2310: I2C communication stop issue

Part Number: MSP430FR2310
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10983

Hi team,

I'm writing motor parameters to the DRV10983 from the MSP430FR2310PW16R via I2C. If I keep writing to the EEPROM of the DRV10983, about once every few to several tens of times, I can't write to it until I power it off and restart it.

When I checked the MSP430's SDA and SCL pins with an oscilloscope, they stay HIGH, and it seems like the I2C communication stops. If I apply an external reset to the MSP430 using the RST pin, the I2C communication comes back.

Do you have any idea what might be causing the I2C communication to stop? Thanks.

Best Regards,
Isoda

  • Can you capture (on the scope) the final bus interaction before it goes idle? There may be a clue there.

Actually my first guess is that your program has wandered off into the proverbial weeds. If you pause in the debugger, where is it executing?
