Launchpad & booster pack

The CD shipped with the radio booster pack for the launchpad contained a text file that looked just like a .hex file.  I assume this is the program loaded into the chips supplied with the radio booster packs. So I have a couple of questions:

If I need to restore this to the chip how would I do that?

How do I get CCS v5 to generate that file from the supplied source code, assuming I can correct the hundreds of errors resulting from the code being written for the IAR compiler?

  • Thank you.  I had hoped to be able to do it with the launchpad, but I guess I'll have to order the tool in the wiki article.

  •  Hi Tom, to load code to your launchpad you need a simple utility from elprotronic that load .txt MSP files to launchpad or the target you are using.

Please can you post a link to radio booster pack, I found nothing online and I am interested to see what it is.

     Thank you very much

     Roberto

  • Hi Roberto, I downloaded the program you mentioned, it needs a MSP-FET430-UIF module to load .txt files into the 430 chips, which is currently out of stock.  If there's a version that will work with a launchpad tell me.

That link will get you to the radio booster pack.  Some things you need to know about it:  The source code for the demonstrator included requires the full price version of the IAR compiler.  It generates hundreds of errors if you try to use CCS.  My style of programming is a bit different from most folks, I start with a working demo program, change it a bit at a time until it does what I want.  I use CCS rather than IAR, so I'm out in the cold with this one.  If Anaren ever gets around to putting out a version of the firmware source code that works with CCS I'll take them out of the closet and try again.  Until then, banging my head against the wall was getting old so it's on to other projects.
