MSP430F5528IZQE

I have a low power application with the MSP430F5528IZQE and am worried about parasitic leakage on the USB interface when unconnected.  It appears that we have voltage present on the DM, DP, VBUS when USB is disconnected.  Is this expected?   Any way to eliminate?

Our assumption is that with a USB cable connected to another device we may sink some current, thereby minimizing battery life, even when the MSP430 USB interface is not being used.

Please advise.

  • Do you supply power to VUSB (54 pin) from a battery?
Then, cut off VUSB from the battery and attach just 220nF bypass capacitor to this pin, so that the USB power domain is supplied just from VBUS (53 pin).
The battery sources just DVCC (and AVCC).
