Can ez430 boards program a MSP430F5xxx part?

Hello,

I have a custom board that I can successfully program with a MSP-FET430UIF in either JTAG mode or Spy-Bi-Wire mode. Since the ez430 boards have a Spi-By-Wire interface and UART on them I would like to use them instead. I've tried several ez430 boards but the code download fails. The same ez430 board works perfectly with an MSP430F2xxx series part. Will the ez430 boards work with the MSP430F5xxx parts?

I looked in the documentation and searched the forums but haven't seen a conclusive answer to this yet.

If you are using an ez430-FET board from RF2500 or the 2012 dev kit, then probably not, without updating the code on the MPS430F161. Unfortunately you need a full JTAG programmer unit in order to do this. Here is a link to the process:

The ez340-FET in the Chrono kit has newer firmware that supports more processor.

Thanks, I thought that the "FET firmware update" procedure that the compiler does would have done that, but now that I think about it the update is only for the MSP-FET430UIF.
