MSP430G2433 32 QFN use with LaunchPad

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430G2433

All:

I'm starting a development project using the MSP430G2433IRHB32.  I'm using the 32 QFN version, because I need the extra 8 I/Os.  The website lists the launchpad as the development platform for this device, but it will only hold a 20 pin DIP device.  Does anyone have any recommendations for an adapter of some type, or any other development platform I could use to allow me to use the correct, fully functional device?  I prefer to go ahead and start my SW development before my own PCB is ready...

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Hi Adrian,

You can always debug on the 20-pin MSP430G2433, since all the peripheral registers are the same. Only thing missing would be to actually see the input/output for the 8 additional ports, but verifying the IO part should be trivial once you get your own boards.

Alternatively, you can always hook the QFN chip to the Launchpad "dead bug" style; you really only need VCC/GND, the TEST/RST for Spy-by-Wire, and optionally whatever IO you want to test.

    Hope that helps.

    Tony

  •  Hi Adrian, no UIF adapter from TI is in the development list so you can try build your own small PCB qfn to dil or see offer from ebay:

     Programming QFN Adapter to DIL

    PCB adapter

Consider the shipping time of these or check at Digikey or Mouser the proper adapter to prototype your circuits and have if faster.
