DC Generator?

I am reviewing the low power mode documentation in the MSP430x2xx Family pdf file and noticed that LPM1, LPM3, and LPM4 all list the "DC Generator" as being turned off. I did a quick search for more details on what this might be but cannot seem to find anything. Does anyone know what the DC generator is used for or what chapter of the pdf I need to review to learn more about this feature and the side effects of turning it off.

  • It is part of the DCO as shown in Fig. 5-1 on page 5-3.

  • Hi,

Actually the CPU is clocked by an internal Oscillator and it is called as DCO .a low-frequency   watch crystal runs continuously at 32 KHz and is used to wake the device periodically.

the microcontroller spends most of its time in standby mode, can restart quickly because of its DCO

which may be an important factor in the overall power budget, and i think DC generator is used for to drive DCO for providing Clock to CPU.
