Hi,

I followed the SimpliciTI Sample Application User's Guide, chapter 2.3.2 Using Code Composer Essentials to do some practice on CCE. When it goes to Debug Active Project , it comes out the error:

Error initializing emulator: Could not initialize device interface.

The CCE v3.1 is installed on a Compaq 6520s laptop.

Pls help me.

Are you using the MSP-FET430UIF or the EZ430? TI target board or custom target design? I recommend trying to flash-the LED to rule out hardware considerations. If you can successfully load this basic code then the issue is most likely not a driver or hardware issue: it's probably a project setting.

Take a code example and follow the steps in the new project guide for this test.

Hi Brandon,

How to flash the led? It fails when debugging the project.

The eZ430 RF2500 seems work well, cause I've successfully practiecd the eZ430-RF2500 Sensor Monitor Demo v1.02 in IAR embeded workbench. When I added some code, it comes out a Fatal Error[e89]: Too much object code produced (more than 0x1000 bytes) for this package. I know that the Kickstart version has this code size limitation. So I changed to use CCE. But I totally unfamiliar with it.

Another question is if I still want to use the IAR work bench, how can I get the evaluation license-key from IAR. I bought the eZ430-RF2500 from http://onecall.farnell.com

Hi,

I used IAR for code development for years (Atmel and NEC MCUs) and made the decision to switch to CCE in case of the MSP430. The toolchain is eclipse based (as is the case with the AVR32 toolchain), so the first steps may be hard (I know what I'm talking off).

To get familiar with CCE have a look at this: Media:New_Project_Using_Code_Composer_Essentials_V3.pdf.

To get rid of the 4kbytes size limit you can downoad a 30-day eval version from IAR here: http://iar.com/website1/1.0.1.0/220/1/ (pls note: if the 30day period is over you will no longer be able to compile/debug your projects!).
