Can CCE program a target MSP430 device with hex file

Does CCE support flash programming using hex file? If not, is there an external tool CCE can run to program target device with hex file?

Hi,

CCE is only a piece of SW; in order to program a MSP430 you will need a hardwaretool (i.e. MSP-FET430UIF (http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/msp-fet430uif.html) or MSP-GANG430 for multiple targets) or you can use the BSL (which is available for most devices; refer to http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/litabsmultiplefilelist.tsp?&literatureNumber=slau265c for details).

Thanks. I forgot to mention that I'm using FET430UIF. Is it possible to have flash programming support today in CCE via USB FET430, with binary file?

There is a very easy-to-use free tool from Elprotronic called the FETpro430, which works with the TI FET programmers. More information can be found here

The SmartRF Flash Programmer application seems to support MPS430 and ez430 programming. Will this work to download a binary file instead of using CCE or IAR?
