Programming MSP430F6638 with GANG430

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F6638, MSP-GANG

Dear Community!

I am trying to program an MSP430F6638 controller in a test circuit, but I cannot.

Our company has old programmers; PRGS430 and GANG430.
The software of the GANG should be able to handle this controller, but I have problems with it. The PCB has 4-wire JTAG connection, like on page 60 in SLAU101Q.
When I try to read the target, it says "WARNING: Could not set target voltage . Short circuitry or settling time too small?".
When I try to write the target it starts, but the "%" progress bar stops at the first 'blue rectangle'. It looks like it is working, but it does not make anything, I have to unplug the power cable of the GANG and close the software GUI.

I made another connector to reach the Spy-bi-wire connection, like on page 61 int SLAU101Q. It does the same.

I updated the firmware with gang430-157.txt. The software version is 1.57.

I need your help to figure the problem out. If it is impossible to use the GANG programming MSP430F6638, then I would like to ask you to suggest another programmer that is compatible with this controller and is able to program 'on-board' chips via JTAG.

Thank you for your reply,

G.
