Hello,
Is it possible to flash the MSP430F5437 using the ez430-F2013 usb board and SBW protocol?
Thanks, Pedro

Hello,
Is it possible to flash the MSP430F5437 using the ez430-F2013 usb board and SBW protocol?
Thanks, Pedro
Thanks for the reply.
I've just updated my hardware from the MSP430F2274, which I was flashing using the ez430-F2013, to the MSP430F5437and I wasn't being able to flash it. So i though it was a problem with the harware.
Is it possible to upgrade the ez430-F2013 firmware to be compatible with the F5xx series, using the method you described at http://e2e.ti.com/forums/p/3229/11908.aspx#11908?
I've already purchased the MSP-FET430UIF just in case, but I have a couple of questions. How do I adapt the FET430UIF's JTAG intarface to my SBW interface?
I've found in the FET430UIF's user guide (page 26) a schematic, but I don't understand the J1, J2 connections. If my board does not need power from the FET430UIF's (it has is own power supply) do I connect the board's power supply to the pin 4 of the JTAG connector?
Regards, Pedro Silva
you need to connect the following pins
ground
test
tdo/tdi
tck
capacitance on tdo/tdi must be 2.2nano maximum
to monitor that the voltage is correct the targest vcc should be connected to pin 4 of the jtag interface (vcc target)
Yes, that is correct. The problem is, we do not have the proper firmware object code.
BTW, IAR (and/or other FET Tool chains) may offer to update the firmware. As far as I know, accepting that will always make the eZ430U sick.

Yes that is the procedure, but we do not have the firmware that is compatible with F5xx.
Is there any tool available to program an MSP430F5xxx via sbw (spy-bi-wire)?
We like to switch from F2274 to F5418 (or similat 80 pin version) . All our development, production and service tools base on sbw.
I use IAR KickStart and MSP-FET430UIF. They work in SBW as well as 4-wire-JTAG mode
Thank you for the hint. I used eZ430-F2013 and eZ430-RF2500 (Rev 2.0). Both failed on IAR and CCE. It seems the tools can not access the processor:Sat Jun 06 16:51:37 2009: Interface dll version 2.4.0.2 Sat Jun 06 16:51:44 2009: Fatal error: Failed to identify device On my prototype I see the VCORE is at 1.8V, Vcc at 3.6V, RST is high. So from the pins (double checked!) everything seems okay. Do you have any sugestion?
As far as I know, many USB port JTAG tools can handle F5xx tagets in both SBW and 4-wire modes. But the eZ430U JTAG tools cannot.
The parallel port JTAG tools can only use 4-wire mode to handle F5xx tagets.
