MSP430Flasher (command line tool) FET upgrade problem

I'm busy switching our whole operation to DLL libraries v3; part of it is switching some production setups which make use of a command line tool for programming MSP430's via the good old MSP-FET430UIF (v1.4a).

The one problem I have is that when using a FET that is still on the v2.xx firmware is not detected by MSP430Flasher has being out of date and start the upgrade process automatically as stated on the wiki.

My solution at this stage is plugging the FET into my development PC and starting a Debug session with Code Composer v5.2, in which case the need for an firmware upgrade is detected and the upgrade prompt window pops up.

Firstly is this a known issue with MSP430Flasher or is there something missing in my setup?

Secondly is there any easy to use (like one button app for "less technical" people) to tool to check/upgrade the FET.

After all these recent problems with different FET firmware revisions etc, it's time for a tool that allows upgrade and downgrade of FET versions and restoration of the TUSB firmware in one single appiication - without having to manually install different drivers, use a clean PC, use this or that tool.

Just one single app that auto-detefcts (or in case of a broken TUSB lets you pick a COM port) the FET and performs any required operation(s).
It really can't be that difficult.
