MSP430F47197 - Damping Resistor required for MSP430F47197

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F47197

There was a discussion at company X for suggesting damping resistor on all I/O (P1~P10) and the JTAG in design as a default.  As you know damping resistor is used for minimizing ringing between the High Low voltage.  I have already proved by observing these lines through the oscilloscope (yes, there is capacitance of pF with the probe and it may not be 100% accurate), we did not observe any overshoot undershoot of the pins.  However they wanted a visual simulation proof to prove that it may not be required.

Question 1: I do not know the type of Schmitt trigger used internally in the MSP430F47197.  I would like to know if there is a sample circuit that I can review?  Being already able to simulate would be better but a circuit of what is being used is fine.

Question 2: I was not able to locate in the specification and wanted to confirm.  Is there a requirement in the MSP430F47197 document for damping resistor for the I/O ports?

D.T.
