Using a library built with CCE in a IAR toolchain?

Is it possible to use a library built in Code Composer Essentials 3.1 in a IAR project? What kind of language does a library file actually consist of, i.e. why would it succeed / fail?

Earlier I have not been bothered about this questions, just used the same toolchain in all development, built and used libs using the same tool, but now I want to build libs with CCE and use them in IAR. The target is of course the same.

This is very unlikely to be possible. You have two problems: CCE creates COFF files and I don't know whether IAR can consume that format. Even if it can, there is no standard Application Binary Interface (ABI) in use between CCE and IAR.

CCE and IAR object file formats are different. IAR tools use UBROF - Universal Binary Relocatable Object Format.
