 Hello,

Can you please let me know if there is a pin for pin compatible upgrade F5xxx devices for the MSP430F2252?  I located the MSP430F5152 as an alternative, but I am not sure if this is a pin for pin compatible option.  If there are any other pin for pin compatible options please let me know.

    The 5x family is very different. It has a different clock module (including crystal handling), and usually much more internal modules which requires also much more external pins. I didn't look at the datasheet, but I doubt it will be a 1:1 pin compatible change. IIRC each 5x device at least needs a capacitor on its VCORE pin, a pin no 23x family device has.

    Look in the 2x family for replacements (which are usually limited to more ram, more flash or an ADC where there was only a comparator before).

    Only MSP430F22xx use 38TSOP package.

    Only MSP430F22xx and MSP430F23xx use 40VQFN or 49DSBGA packages.

    Just to match pin count is limited to above. You can find out if they are pin compatible.
