Dear All,

I've read on a number of internet forums that it is possible to use a Gang program to assign individual serial numbers to each MSP chip in a production setup.

How can my C code read the serial number from memory? (I'm using code composer essentials v3.2 and a MSP430F5438). Is there any sample source code available to do this?

The Gang programmer can certainly program serial numbers on the device. Please see pg 78 of the user's guide:

A 3rd party also has a solution as the one you are looking for:

In particular, please see:

But the above programmer only works with IAR, not CCE. You may want to contact them to ask if they have a solution for CCE.

Reading flash is simple just like accessing any other memory location on the MSP430. Its the writing to flash that takes some steps and code examples for that are available on www.ti.com/msp430codeexamples

Since in your case, you are wanting to read from flash, you can just read from a particular flash location like you would read from RAM.
