MSP430F2618 and system tick counter

Hi,

I am working with MSP430F2618.I would like to calculate time what my function took. But i don't have a system build-in tick counter function to take tick value before and after. I don't want to start the timer for this issue.

Hi,

Well if you are using IAR you could implement the cycle counter and determine the #of cycles a certain function took using breakpoints. The Cycle counter can be found in the "Register" view while in the debugger mode.

Hi,

I want to count the ticks for a single instruction (same functionality) in CCS IDE for MSP430F5438A, can you please help. Is there any cpu_tick() function (or) any other function for calculate the ticks.

The number of CPU clock cycles for each instruction is fixed. There are no instrucitons with variable execution time. The time each instruction requires is found in the users guide.
