Problem encountered in FET emulator

I am using IAR version 5.20. Once I download the application program into FET emulator, error message on pop-up window is follows: “Fatal error: Failed to initialize Check if hareware conected. Check if drivers are installed. Try to restart the computer Tools using the parralled port are not supported on Windows Vista”

I didn't face this problem before. Could you provide me any solution.

Are you using the MSP-FET430UIF Tool?

What is your operating system?

Are you able to see the FET Tool in the device Manager? perhaps you can provide a screen shot.

Do you see the power LED and the Mode LED flashing/blinking when connecting the FET tool to the USB port?

Yes I am using the MSP-FET430UIF Tool. Operating system is Windows XP. Yes I can see FET tool in the device manager. The last question is- Yes .

What is the exact sequence of those LED's. ie. GREEN, RED, RED, RED or something else?

When I connect FET430 , I see Blue power button only.

Yes, it seems that the Low-Level Drivers are installed properly.

Can you please try the below steps?

1) Please download and install the free FET-Pro430 Software from Elprotronic which can be obtained from here: http://www.elprotronic.com/files/FET-Pro430-Lite-Setup.zip

2) Once it has been successfully installed, please go to About/Help --> About Software, a window will show up with the UIF Firmware version (please provide a screen shot of that window)

3) If you are able to see the Firmware version of the UIF Tool, then it means that the PC <----> UIF FET tool communication works properly. In this case I would recommend you to install the latest IAR WB version which is currently v5.50.2

Pls see the screenshot. I think FET tool is ok. But I am still encountering same problem. I worked properly before on it. But now I cannot. Your help is appreciated.

It seems that the PC<---> UIF Tool communication works correctly.

In this case I would suggest you to reinstall IAR completely, means unstalling first and then reinstallation.

Make sure you have adminstrator rights on your machine while installing and using IAR.
